A Word in Season

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

A word in season for my weary soul;
Encouragement, when all my hope is lost;
A comfort, when great sorrow presses in;
A lighthouse, when upon the waves I’m tossed;
A breath of life into my barren heart;
A firm rebuke, when I have gone astray;
The lesson that I need this very hour;
And words to share with other souls, today;
Your Word, O God, is all in all to me!
So precious, in its all-consuming power.
The more I read, the more I understand
How much I need You, Jesus, every hour.
Please speak to my surrendered heart, I pray;
For in Your Word I’ll find You, Lord, today.
“When I discovered your words,
I devoured them.
They are my joy
and my heart’s delight…”
Jeremiah 15:16a NLT
