An Arm Around Your Shoulder

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?”
Psalm 56:8

He wraps an arm around your shoulder, for He knows.
He seals each tear within His bottle, for He sees.
And when the pain goes deeper than the spoken word can say,
His own heart breaks to hear your silent pleas.

He’s right beside you each and every moment that you hurt.
He’s covering you now with angels’ wings.
So lean into His bosom, as He longs to comfort you;
Just listen for the lullaby He sings.

For He is there, to wrap His arms around you,
To brush away each tear with His own hand.
And one day, up in glory, you will know the final joy
Of seeing how it all fit in His plan.

But for this day, just know He cares for you.
And even in this, He will see you through.

“casting all your care upon Him,
for He cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
