Be the Gift, Be a Lifeline

“Every follower of Christ — is called
to follow Christ into the lake of someone’s fire
and hold out a hand. That’s our calling.”
~ Ann Voskamp*
Groping in the darkness,
Grasping for a hand,
Searching for a list’ning heart,
Someone to understand;
And if no one can understand,
At least someone to care –
To wrap a sturdy arm around
And lift them up in prayer;
Someone who sees past all the smoke
To snatch them from the flame,
Then hold them close, and whisper soft
To sooth away the pain.
Oh, could you be that lifeline for
A hurting soul, today?
If you are willing, God will send
A wounded soul your way.
Just open wide your arms and let
The love of Christ pour through.
There’s someone close in desperate need –
Their lifeline may be you.
“Carry one another’s burdens;
in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 NKJV
