That Still, Small Voice

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Sometimes God is in the fire;
Sometimes in the wind.
But when God comes to speak a word,
And draw me close to Him,
He whispers in a still, small voice
That I can only hear
If I am listening for His voice,
And drawing very near.
“And behold, the LORD passed by,
and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains
and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD,
but the LORD was not in the wind;
…and after the earthquake a fire,
but the LORD was not in the fire;
and after the fire a still small voice.”
