Let It Flow

“His one eye crossed and his nose was messy as could be,
but he was even more precious than he was messy.”
~ missionary “Mommie O” (Judy Overmiller)

She walked along a busy street
There, in a foreign land,
And felt someone beside her reach
To take hold of her hand.

Instinctively, she glanced to see
Just who might be so bold.
And there beside her stood a child,
Shivering from the cold.

His face was dirty, nose was runny,
And one eye was crossed.
But all that she could really see…
A precious lamb, so lost.

She scooped him up and held him close,
Looked deep into his eyes.
And there she saw Someone she knew –
Her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She smiled sweetly at him as
She said, “Jesus loves you.”
And though he didn’t know the words,
He felt them, through and through.

For that’s the way that Jesus loves,
Not based on what He sees.
But simply ‘cause He chooses to,
And knows our desperate need.

And that’s the love that we, in turn,
Can offer others, too,
When we allow the love of Christ
To flow through me and you.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 NIV
