No Reverence…No Surprise

(upon hearing that the American Atheists are suing to have the steel-beamed cross
that was left in the 9-11 wreckage removed from the memorial museum)
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.
but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.
Yet to those who are called… Christ is God’s power and God’s wisdom,
because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom,
and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.”
1 Corinthians 1:18, 23-25 HCSB
We should not be surprised to hear
That some just cannot see
The preaching of the cross of Christ
As it is meant to be.
For God said it’s a stumbling block
To those with blinded eyes
Who do not have a heart for Him,
But deem themselves as wise.
For worldly wisdom mocks the Truth,
And calls its followers fools.
It disregards God’s gift of grace.
It scorns His "narrow rules."
We shouldn’t be surprised. In fact,
We can rejoice to know
That God is right, again! He said it,
And we see it’s so.
And one day, even those who mock
Will bow a humbled knee,
Acknowledging that Jesus Christ
Is who He claimed to be.
“…at the name of Jesus every knee will bow—
of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth—
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:10-11 HCSB
