Come Lay Your Weary Head

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Come lay your weary head upon My breast;
And let your heavy eyelids close in sleep.
For I will stay beside you, as you rest;
A quiet, constant vigil here to keep.
For you have battled bravely ‘gainst the foe,
Who sought to overcome you, in the fray.
But I will bear you up, that you will know
A taste of My omnipotence and grace.
So for this night, just sleep, my child, in peace.
Surrender to a calmness in your soul.
Allow my Spirit-breath to bring relief;
Restoring, gently, till you are made whole.
Just lay your weary head upon my breast;
And I will stay beside you as you rest.
“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep...”
Psalm 4:8a NKJV
