Ah…There You Are!

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

I took a walk this morning,
And God was everywhere –
The tall, majestic mountains,
The songbirds in the air,

The brilliant beams of sunlight
That split the morning sky,
Even the doe and speckled fawn
That chose to wander by.

The fool’s heart says there is no God;
That it’s just happenstance.
But when I look, I see Him,
Not something there by chance.

For God is the Creator,
Sustainer of all things,
And worthy of the glory
That His creation brings.

If some days I don’t see Him,
It’s not that He’s not there.
It’s just that I’m too busy,
Or simply unaware.

When I take time to find Him,
He’s never far away.
I must be more intentional
To do so every day.

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalm 19:1 NIV

(written after starting my morning walk with Tuli,
thinking I hadn’t heard from God in a while;
then turning the corner to see the mountains,
and looking behind me, to see the sun bursting through the clouds,
indeed, He was everywhere!)
