Turning Rocks into Stepping Stones

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.”
1 Samuel 2:2 NIV
When circumstances rock my world,
Remind me You’re the Rock on which I stand;
That You’re the God who sees my need,
The God who’s taking hold, now, of my hand.
And when the fear and doubt grow strong,
Remind me, Lord, that You’re my hiding place;
That I can run to You and find
The strength I need, the peace, the hope, the grace.
And though the path is hard to see,
Your steps before me surely lead the way.
So I’ll just keep my eyes on You,
And listen to Your Spirit as I pray
Until those things that rocked my world
Beneath Your feet become mere stepping stones
That mark the way more clearly back
To where I’ll leave the next ones at Your throne.
