Nodding Off…

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

As the farmer sowed his corn,
He nodded off a time or two;
But thought he’d done a good job till
It sprang up, with the rows askew.

You see, the outward evidence
Of drifting may, at first, not be
So obvious. But given time,
The harvest will be clear to see.

So stay alert; don’t let old Satan
Lull you, so you’ll drift away.
Cuz ‘fore you know it, you will have
A crooked harvest on display.

“Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil
is prowling around like a roaring lion,
looking for anyone he can devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 HCSB
