Confident of This Very Thing

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

My friend, your pain is heavy, on my mind.
Let’s go to God together…there we’ll find
He may not take this trial away from you.
But He has promised He will see you through.
He may not even share, with you, His plan.
But asks that you would simply take His hand;
And follow, as He leads you, step by step.
That may be all you see for now, and yet
You know that He’s been faithful through the years;
That He sends blessings, mingled with the tears.
And, in the end, you’re stronger for the pain.
For what you saw as loss, with Him is gain.
So trust Him, once again, to do what’s best.
Do what He asks of you, and leave the rest
In His almighty, loving, gentle hands;
Your faithfulness is all that he commands.
Just keep His faithful promises in view.
Remember, He’s perfecting Christ, in you.
“… being confident of this very thing,
that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6 NKJV
