The Search for Satisfaction

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Is there a lasting satisfaction
Outside of God’s will?
Is there some secret formula,
Some potion, or some pill
That brings a joy and peace that lasts
Beyond those hours of “fun”
That only leave you feeling empty,
Wasted and undone?

It’s time to leave those things behind
And seek out Jesus’ face.
For walking in His path will bring you
Peace, and hope, and grace.
For when God’s the supplier,
You’ll find joy forevermore.
And lasting satisfaction’s found
At Heaven’s open door.

So next time you are feeling down,
Forget the world’s advice.
Instead, go to the throne of God
And let His grace suffice.
For there, my friend, is happiness
That’s real, and deep, and true.
And that, friend, is what God and I
Are wanting most for you.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you,
and that your joy may be full.”
John 15:11 NKJV
