Hush…the Lord Is Speaking

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“The Lord came and stood there,
calling as at the other times…”
1 Samuel 3:10 NIV

Hush now … the Lord is speaking.
Oh, can you hear His voice?
You must be still and listen,
And shut out all the noise.

For He is often quiet;
His voice so still and small,
So you will lean in closer
To hear His tender call.

And while you’re there and listening,
He’ll speak straight to your heart
With precious thoughts of mercy
And grace that He’ll impart.

He’ll whisper how He loves you,
And longs that you’ll abide
Where you can always hear Him,
Close by His precious side.

So hush now, as He’s speaking;
His voice, so sweet and low.
He wants you to draw closer.
Don’t hesitate… just go.

“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God…’”
Psalm 46:10 NIV

I love this poem. It ministered to me this morning. Sometimes we need to just be still before God.
