If My People

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

If My people bow, and humbly pray;
If they turn back from their wicked way;
If they come to Me, and seek My face,
I will surely lend, to them, My grace.

I will then forgive, and heal their land;
Give to them My merciful, right hand;
Lift them from the pit of their despair…
If they would just come to Me in prayer.

But...if they should turn away from Me;
Leave behind My Word, and selfishly
Set up thrones that challenge God, above,
In the name of tolerance and love;

Then I will uproot them from the land;
Purge them with a rod, and iron hand,
So the world will look at them, and see
That what I have spoken came to be.

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land…
‘But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments
which I have set before you…then I will uproot them from My land
which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified
for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it
a proverb and a byword among all peoples. And as for this house,
which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say,
‘Why has the LORD done thus to this land and this house?’”
2 Chronicles 7:14, 19-21
