The Well that Won’t Run Dry

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

This morning as I showered
The water flow went dry.
We were in a hotel room,
Left wondering how and why.

After about five minutes,
The water’s flow resumed.
Good thing, cuz I’d been stuck there,
Hair lathered in shampoo.

There is one source of water
On which we can rely.
Christ gives that living water
From His endless supply

Of mercy, grace, forgiveness,
Of peace, and joy in Him.
He says that with His water we
Need never thirst again.

I’ve tasted this sweet water,
And offer it to you.
You’ll find it satisfying
Like nothing else can do.

So heed Christ’s invitation:
If you are thirsty, come.
His living water’s endless…
Enough for everyone.

“On the last day, that great day of the feast,
Jesus stood and cried out, saying,
‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said,
out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
John 7:37-38 NKJV
