Divine Distractions

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Thank You, Father, for this day
To share new things with You.
I’m looking forward to the things
You’ve planned for me to do.
I know that they may not be what
I’d planned to do today.
So help me greet them gladly as
I do them, anyway.
And help me see them, not as just
Distractions from my plan,
But blessings that You’ve sent me from
Your loving, gracious hand.
Then, as I look back on my day,
I won’t downhearted be;
For I’ll know each “distraction” was
A gift from You to me.
“' For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,' says the LORD.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.'”
Isaiah 55:8-9
