Not an Interruption, But an Invitation

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Knowing that we have an opportunity to participate in God's purposes
should cause us to sit on the edge of our seats in anticipation
of divine interventions disguised as life's interruptions."
* Priscilla Shirer

When life brings interruptions
To things I’d planned today,
I often get frustrated
That things won’t go my way.

But I am learning, slowly,
When interruptions come,
To see God’s invitation –
His hand in every one.

For that’s the way He leads me –
Just one step at a time.
Those little “interruptions” are
His plans replacing mine.

And since I know He loves me,
And only does what’s best,
It’s through those interruptions
I often find I’m blessed.

So rather than complaining
When interruptions come,
I’ll see God’s invitation,
Take His baton, and run!

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9
