“Patience is a virtue,” so they say.
But where does patience come from, anyway?
If you ask God for it, just be aware -
He says that patience comes from trials prepared
To test your faith, and see if you will wait
For Him to work at His own time and pace.
And, oftentimes, His pace may seem too slow.
So you’ll be tempted not to wait, but go
Ahead, and step out of His plans.
But if you wait, you’ll find that His demands
Are for your good; though at the time it seems
That He’s lost sight of your requests and needs.
Friend, in the end, you’ll see that He knew best;
And you, indeed, learned patience through the test.
And while it isn’t easy, your reward
Is being made complete, in Christ the Lord.
“…the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work,
that you may be perfect and complete,
lacking nothing.”
James 1:3-4
