You Didn’t Move…It Was Me

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
 your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,  for I have redeemed you.”
Isaiah 44:22

Lord, I fear I’ve left You
In some corner-room of life;
Only to be sought out
In the midst of toil and strife;

Gone about my daily chores,
Without a glance Your way;
Never slowing down to read
Your Word, or even pray.

How long has it been, now,
Since I truly sought Your face;
Really took the time to
Know Your love, and feel Your grace?

Oh, that I would sense the
Emptiness apart from You.
Oh, that I would seek Your will
In everything I do.

Help me, Lord, to know when
I am wandering carelessly.
For when I feel You’re far away,
You didn’t move…’twas me.
