A Mother’s Prayer

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Lord, how could such a tiny one danni umbrella
So quickly steal my heart?
Her chubby toes, and turned up nose -
Perfect in every part!

Lord, how could such a lively child,
With mud from head to toe,
Cause such alarm, then burst with charm?
She lights my life up so!

Lord, how could such a lovely child
So drive me to my knees?
That stubborn side she cannot hide -
Ah…she gets that from me.

Lord, how could such a tiny one
Grow up before my eyes?
Just yesterday we danced and played -
Now, she’s loosening the ties.

Lord, thank You for my precious child;
Please bless her whole life through.
In all her days, whate’er her ways,
May she bring praise to You!

"Lo, children are
an heritage of the LORD…"
Psalm 127:3
