Consecrated in the Afterglow

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand,
which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
With it he touched my mouth and said,
‘See, this has touched your lips;
your guilt is taken away
and your sin atoned for.’
…And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
Isaiah 6:6-7, 8b
Lord, bring a glowing coal for me, today;
And lay it where Thou wilt, I humbly pray.
For Lord, Thou knowest where my weakness lies.
And as I search Thy wise and loving eyes,
I see now, too, just where that coal should be,
As Thou dost render healing, Lord, to me -
That I may serve Thee fully, from this time;
My soul exposed, my life now hid in Thine;
And ready, Lord, to ever follow Thee.
Yes, here am I; and willing, Lord…send me.
