He Is My Strength

“…He doesn’t make you strong: He is your strength.”
~ Ann Voskamp, a holy experience

There are days God gives me strength
To swim against the tide.
But there are others when I find
No ounce of strength inside.

Those days when I am weakest,
When I’m tempted to give in,
Those are the days when I best learn
To find my strength in Him.

And He is always ready,
With His arms firmly in place,
To catch me as I’m leaning hard
Into His strength and grace.

If only I would learn to start
This place I always end,
In the embrace of my sweet Lord,
My Rock, my Strength… my Friend.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Psalm 18:2 NKJV
