Connection Detected

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

I sat down in my hotel room;
Turned my computer on.
Looked for an internet connection;
Found one that was strong.
And there it was – that message saying,
“You are not connected.”
It asked me for the password, then,
Just as I had expected.
We had the password in our hands;
Got it when we’d checked in.
All I need do was type the word,
And I could then begin.
So sure enough, password in place,
I got myself online.
I checked my facebook and my mail,
Then this thought came to mind…
How often does unanswered prayer
Leave us feeling dejected
When all along the problem is
We haven’t been connected?
God’s signal’s strong. He waits for us,
Inviting us to come.
But we must be connected first
To Jesus Christ, His Son.
It isn’t hard. The password’s clear,
Found right in God’s own Word.
And when we are made right with God,
Our prayers can then be heard.
So here’s the password:   Romans 10:9-10
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God,
and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”
