A Way Through the Mountains

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

The mountains loom, just up ahead.
They’re in the way that I’ve been led;
And there’s no way to go around
That rocky, steep, and thorny ground.

But as I stop to kneel and pray,
I see, indeed, there is a way –
A Guide is there to lead me o’er
A path I had not seen before.

He moves as if He knows it well.
It’s not His first trip, I can tell;
For every step He takes with ease,
No hesitation as He leads.

So though the mountain’s steep and high,
I won’t lose heart; and this is why –
Because God leads me day by day;
And through the mountains makes a way.

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
    along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
    and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
    I will not forsake them.”
Isaiah 42:16 NIV
