Come and Find Me

“You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:12-13 HCSB
Jesus said, “Come, find Me!”
So I sought for Him in prayer.
And in His grace and faithfulness,
He sweetly met me there.
He said that He’d been missing me;
That though I often prayed,
Lately I’d been so busy and
My thoughts so often strayed.
He gently, then, reminded me
That when I come to Him
It should be with my whole heart.
That is where I must begin.
Again, He said, “Come, find Me!”
So I opened up His Word;
And found Him in an upper room
Where roles and lines were blurred.
For there, the Master knelt to wash
His own disciples’ feet;
Displaying His great love for them,
His true humility.
He’d taught them of Himself and who
He wanted them to be.
And I knew what He’d done for them,
He’d also done for me.
I found Him in a garden, then;
Bent low in fervent prayer.
And as I listened closely,
My own name was in the air.
Yes, in His time of greatest grief,
His heart was set on mine.
Oh what a wondrous Savior with
A heart pure and divine.
He loves me and He draws me to
Come find Him, if I will.
And if I listen closely,
I will find Him calling, still.
(inspired, in part, by one of my favorite passages…)
Jesus said, “I pray for them. I am not praying for the world
but for those You have given Me, because they are Yours.”
John 17:9 HCSB
