Discretion

“Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.
My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”
James 3:10 NIV

Say those things that should be said;
Don’t just keep them in your head.
Someone may just need to hear
Your words of wisdom, comfort, cheer.

But then, those things that just berate,
Words of anger steeped in hate -
Stuff them back in, way down deep;
Lock your lips, and toss the key.

Cuz words can save or they can drown;
Build one up, or tear them down.
Great discretion is the key
To sharing God’s truth, lovingly.

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt,
that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
Colossians 4:6 NKJV
