Under His Wing

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Resting safely underneath the shadow of His wing,
I feel His strength surround me, and I need not fear a thing.
For when I’m tucked beneath His wing, I’m sheltered from the storm;
I’m lovingly protected as He keeps me safe and warm.

He may not take the storm away; the waters still may rise.
But if they do, I will not fear for love is in His eyes.
And I’m secure in knowing that my Savior loves me so.
He’s promised that the trials I face today will never go

Beyond what, in His wisdom, He’s determined I can bear.
He says that when I’m anxious I can come to Him in prayer
To leave my burdens at His feet, and rest in His embrace;
Assured that I am covered by His all-sufficient grace.

So though the storm may rage around me, I can be at peace
Because I have a God whose love and mercy never cease.
And time, and time again, He’s proven true through everything.
There’s no place that I’d rather be than underneath His wing.

“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.”
Psalm 57:1 NKJV
