Sometimes God allows life
To squeeze like ne’er before,
Until we feel we’re wrung out,
And can’t take any more.
He then adds His sweet spirit;
Perhaps shakes one more time;
Then offers us a taste of
The change He’s made inside.
For we’ve become drink offerings,
To pour on those around;
His sweet, refreshing spirit
On dry and thirsty ground.
And we’ll find, when we’re poured out,
That others will be blessed.
Then they, too, may be willing,
In God’s hands, to be pressed.
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed;
perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned;
struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body
the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”
