A Personal Invitation

Come sit here in the quiet of the day.
The morning rush and flurry now has passed;
A holy stillness round you I have cast;
And I am calling you to come and pray.

So, for a moment, lay aside those cares
And duties that are beckoning to you.
I know you have so many things to do.
But I am asking you to start with prayer.

And if you spend this time in prayer you’ll see
That I will help you find time for the rest;
And you will know that you have chosen best,
To offer up this precious time to Me.

For when you come to pray, I’ll meet you there.
Your chores and worries for a time will cease.
I’ll pour into your heart my perfect peace;
And what a blessed time we two will share.

“And she had a sister called Mary,
who also sat at Jesus’feet and heard His word.
But Martha was distracted with much serving…
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha,
you are worried and troubled about many things.
But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part,
which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:39-40, 42
