Still, I Will Trust

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

I know your heart. I feel your pain and sorrow.
Please know that even My heart’s breaking, too.
For I’m your Father, and My Spirit’s deep inside;
I know the anguish you are going through.
But how can a Father ask this of His own dear child?
How can You know, and let us suffer, still?
How can a God of love seem to do nothing?
How can such pain and loss be in Your will?
This is where faith comes in, my child. Don’t lose heart.
My angels’ wings are covering you now.
My own right hand is there; you may not see it,
But deep inside, you know it’s there, somehow.
Yes, Lord, I feel Your angels’ wings brush by me.
I know You’re here to help us make it through.
And though the pain is deep, and my heart weary,
Still I will trust, oh Lord, and cling to You.
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted within me?
hope in God: for I shall yet praise him,
who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”
Psalm 43:5
