After the Storm

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

After the storms have ended,
After the clouds pass by,
There is a cool refreshing
Under the clearing sky;

Time to assess the changes,
Time to reflect…rebuild;
Time to rest soft in Jesus,
Now that the storms are stilled.

He’s there to pick up the pieces;
Help put each one in place.
He’s there for strength and comfort,
Lending His arms of grace.

Look now, upon the horizon;
Sunshine is streaming through.
Jesus has shown Himself faithful;
He has been strong and true.

Trust, then, that there’s a reason
When clouds conceal the sun.
God has a loving purpose
For every storm that comes.

With every morn, new mercies;
With every trial, a crown.
For in those times of weakness,
His love and grace abound.

“It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
