Letting Her Go...Just for a Little While

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

Take hold of both her hands, Lord, as You lead her gently through
That rushing River Jordan that will carry her to You.
Hold tight now, as she lingers there, for one last moment’s glance,
Before she steps upon that shore, for Heaven’s final dance.
Take special care of this one, Lord. She means so much to me.
And when I reach that shore, someday, how happy we will be
Together, there, in Heav’n with You – a grand and glorious day;
When pain and sorrow will be gone, and tears – all wiped away.

Until that day, remind me, Lord, that You chose what was best,
In giving this dear one of mine a chance to finally rest.
And what a blessing, Lord, to know You’re waiting anxiously
To wrap Your arms around her as she greets eternity.
How precious, Lord, it is for You to welcome loved ones Home;
To have them there, beside You, at Your grand and glorious throne.
So as I say goodbye, there is a joy down deep within;
For someday, I’ll be with You, too; and see her once again.

“Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.”
Psalm 116:15
