Believing, Even When I Don’t Feel It

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

I noticed as I walked this morning
I could feel no breeze,
Nor was there any stirring in
The now leaf-barren trees.

But then my eyes were drawn to something
Swirling in the air.
A flag was waving gently for
Indeed the wind was there.

God’s Spirit moves like that, at times;
I may not feel His touch.
But He is moving, just the same;
His hand perfecting much.

And that is where my faith comes in –
When I’m confident of
A God whose face I cannot see,
But know His name is Love.

For moments when I do not feel
That measure of His grace,
I only need to look around
For glimpses of His face.

And He is ever faithful, proving
Time and time again
That He is there to lend His grace;
My sure and faithful Friend.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for
and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
