Take hold of both his hands, Lord, as You lead him gently through
That rushing River Jordan that will carry him to You.
Hold tight now, as he lingers here, for one last moment’s glance,
Before he steps upon the shore, for Heaven’s final dance.
Take special care of this one, Lord. He means so much to me.
And when I reach that shore, someday, how happy we will be
Together, there, in Heav’n with You – a grand and glorious day;
When pain and sorrow will be gone, and tears – all wiped away.
Until that day, remind me, Lord, that You chose what was best,
In giving this dear one of mine a chance to finally rest.
And what a blessing, Lord, to know You’re waiting anxiously
To wrap Your arms around him as he greets eternity.
How precious, Lord, it is for You to welcome loved ones Home;
To have them there, beside You, at Your grand and glorious throne.
So as I say goodbye, there is a joy down deep within;
For someday, I’ll be with You, too; and see him once again.
“Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.”
