Bright Righteousness

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“We can all obey God’s Word –
and we can all be whole-hearted in love…
the Holy Spirit within, given as a gift at our new birth,
is jealous to bring our hearts into this bright righteousness.”
*Mike Bickle
We’re called to
bright righteousness
not dimmed or dulled
by cares of the world
desires of the flesh
or weariness in well-doing
but a bold-bright
living out that
spirit-flesh friction
that can polish
even the meekest, weakest seeker
of deeper Christ-love
that friction
borne of service
and selflessness
at war with world-lust
and weariness
but oh…
the gleam of bright righteousness
when the battle’s won
and Christ-glory
shines like the Son
“Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
