Getting Through the Anguish

“Give us patience through the anguish.”
~Beth Moore’s prayer*

Give me patience through the anguish.
Give me eyes, oh Lord, to see
That my trials aren’t meant to harm,
But to perfect Yourself, in me.

Give me joy amidst the anguish.
Give me grace to see it through.
Lift my eyes up from my circumstance,
To gaze, instead, on You.

Then remind me, Lord, that everything
That comes from You is good.
And help me, Lord, regardless,
To be thankful, as I should.

For You make even ashes
Turn to beauty, in Your time.
That’s why, with joy, I place my hand
Securely, Lord, in Thine.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is on Me…
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners;
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
and the day of our God’s vengeance;
to comfort all who mourn,
to provide for those who mourn in Zion;
to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…”
Isaiah 61:1-3 HCSB
