Worth the Wait

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“If we value God’s Word…
we should be willing
to wait patiently and not move
until we have received it.”
* Priscilla Shirer

What is it with this waiting, God?
We’ve got big things to do!
Perhaps I’ll get to work, and then
Come check back in with You.

At least then I’d being doing something,
Not sitting around.
That surely won’t accomplish much.
Feels like we’re losing ground…

But what’s your hurry, child? Can you
See past this point in time?
Whose plan do you think might be best?
Your hasty one… or Mine?

Remember in the waiting there
Is time for you to grow.
And though you cannot see it there
Are things you still don’t know.

So trust Me, child. Slow down, and wait.
My timing will be best.
And I will be at work so you,
In waiting, will be blessed.

“Wait for the LORD;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the LORD.”
Psalm 27:14 NASB
