Lightening the Load

“We can be free from the burden of trying to make things happen
when we know He promises to fulfill His own Word.”
*Priscilla Shirer
How did I come to be convinced
That it was up to me
To pray in such a way that things
Would work out perfectly?
Or that perhaps some good I do
Could garner Heaven’s grace,
When all along it should come down
To seeking Jesus’ face.
For He’s the one who works things out
By His great power, alone.
My cares weren’t meant for me to carry
Past the Father’s throne.
He’s promised that He’ll meet the needs
I bring to Him in prayer.
What a relief to know that I
Can simply leave them there.
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything,
through prayer and petition with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 HCSB
