A Familiar Voice

“As for you, stand here by Me,
that I may speak to you…”
Deuteronomy 5:31 NASB
“Clear communication with God begins when
I approach God and His Word with anticipation,
expecting Him to speak.”
*Priscilla Shirer
It’s not that God’s not speaking.
It’s that my ears don’t hear
When they’re stopped up with busyness,
Or doubt, or even fear
That if He speaks, I’ll hear Him wrong
Or fail to understand.
And then I will just let Him down
By ruining His plan.
But then I am reminded that
My Shepherd’s always good;
That He knows me by name, and if
I’d listen more I would
Begin to recognize His voice,
And trust that what I’ve heard
Is truly Jesus speaking when
My heart, by Him, is stirred.
“…the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name…
and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.”
John 10:3-4 NASB
