Space for Grace

“…nothing but the tomb is meant to be empty.”
~ Beth Moore

“Indeed, we have all received grace after grace from His fullness,”
John 1:16 HCSB

God does not send the trials, and loss,
And heartaches that we face
In order to discourage us.
He’s making room for grace.

So if you’ve sensed an emptiness
That nothing seems to fill,
Though, for a time, it breaks your heart,
It’s all within God’s will.

For He desires to take that void
And leave there, in its place,
A fuller, richer, deeper love
That draws upon His grace.

The only empty place that God
Intends to e’er be so
Is Jesus’ tomb. Everything else
Is meant to bloom and grow.

So when your eyes are stinging from
The tears of loss or pain,
And that familiar emptiness
Comes creeping in, again,

Remember it is only so
You’ll search out Jesus’ face
As He reveals that, once again,
He’s making room for grace.

“I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend
with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love,
and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge,
so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17b-19 HCSB
