Rivers in the Desert

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“[God] doesn’t want you to cling to [the past] anymore.
He has something new for you…”
*Priscilla Shirer
Lord, You have made a new way where
There was no way before,
Like rivers in the desert
Leading me to something more…
A spring here in the wilderness
Where barrenness once reigned.
But You’ve brought forth a miracle,
This desert to reclaim.
And You have called me here to see
This wonder You’ve begun,
A work in me You’ve promised to
Empower till it’s done.
All You require of me is that
I’m willing to obey –
To be part of the miracle
That You’ve begun this day.
“Do not remember the past events,
pay no attention to things of old.
Look, I am about to do something new;
even now it is coming. Do you not see it?
Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness,
rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 HCSB
