He Meets Me at the Kitchen Sink

“…as we do the mundane tasks that consume our lives,
we purposefully turn our awareness inward and say,
“God, what do you think?”
*Priscilla Shirer
God wants me to spend time with Him
In quiet contemplation.
He loves when I am still and He has
My full concentration.
But what about those times when I’m
Just doing mundane things
Like diapers, chores, or errands, or
Whatever my day brings?
Turns out He likes to hear from me
When doing those things, too.
He’s right there with me, all day long,
To lead and guide me through.
And I’ve learned He responds when I
Pause at my kitchen sink,
And in utmost sincerity ask,
“God, what do you think?”
Then if I’ve gotten out of line,
I’ll sense His gentle prod;
Or if my day is pleasing Him,
A sweet, approving nod.
That way we stay connected, not
Just talking once a day.
We walk together, side by side –
That’s more His will, His way.
“I do not call you slaves anymore,
because a slave doesn’t know what his masteris doing.
I have called you friends, because I have made known to you
everything I have heard from My Father.”
John 15:15 HCSB
