The grass is truly greener on the other side
Where saints who’ve gone before us there, in Heav’n, abide;
Where streets of purest gold shine like a glassy sea,
Reflecting Jesus’ glory, and His majesty.
There, gates of whitest pearl will not be shut by day;
And night will never come to chase the light away.
For there will be no need of either sun or moon,
As God’s own glory shines as bright as highest noon.
And in the middle of the street, there’ll stand a Tree
Which bears abundant fruit and precious healing leaves.
It stands beside a river flowing from the throne
Of Him who we shall ever worship, God alone.
Yes, one day we shall see the beauty of that place,
As we behold the wonder of our Savior’s face.
And He will gently wipe away all of our tears;
For there’ll be no more sorrow, no more pain, or fear.
Oh joy, that hardly can this tongue begin to tell…
That we forever more with Him shall surely dwell.
“And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate
was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass…
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it:
for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof…
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be
no night there…And he shewed me a pure river of water of life,
clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb…
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there
the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit
every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations…
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be
no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.”
