What Matters Now

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

It matters not the things you’ve said,
Or what you may have done.
Your Father gave His best for you –
His precious, only Son.
It matters not what you’ve been told;
What lies you might have heard.
Your Father’s message of forgiveness
Beckons from His Word.
It matters not whom you have known,
Or places that you’ve been.
Your Father sees your lonely heart,
And longs to be your friend.
It matters not how long it’s been
Since you were on your knees.
Your Father waits with open arms;
For your return He pleads.
So won’t you run back to those arms
He’s opened wide for you?
Your Father’s waiting anxiously,
Your spirit to renew.
For He is Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness,
Strength, and Hope, and Love.
Drink in His living water for
Refreshing from above.
For there you’ll find what matters now
Is not what’s in your past.
Your Father will receive you when
You turn to Him, at last!
“But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him,
and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him…
and the father said, ’For this, my son, was dead, and is alive again;
he was lost, and is found!’”
Luke 15:20, 24 KJV
