If suffering can bring me closer to You;
If I can know You better through the pain;
Then I will trust Your loving hand upon me,
Even when You choose to send the rain
And though the rainy days seem dark and dreary,
I know that I will see the sun again;
For I have learned that You will only take me
To places, Lord, that You’ve already been.
And since You’ve gone before me, I can follow
Your footprints, which will guide each step of mine.
For I have learned Your lamp will light the pathway,
Though it may be just one step at a time.
Then, when the storm has passed, the clouds have parted;
And I’ve come through with faith that’s been renewed,
I’ll know that it, indeed, was worth it all
To find a deeper love and trust in You.
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time
are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us.”
Romans 8:18 KJV
