Believing God

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

I’m believing God, though it may mean
I have to step out where I cannot see
Around the bend, or to the chasm floor.
He hasn’t told me what might be in store.

But Abraham went out, not knowing where.
He dwelt only in tents, as God’s own heir
Of all that he’d been promised was to be.
He walked by faith, not by what he could see.

May I then be so bold as to declare
That I trust God to lead me, anywhere;
Because He’s promised that His plans for me
Are for my good, and also for His glory.

“By faith Abraham… obeyed and went,
even though he did not know where he was going.
By faith he made his home in the promised land
like a stranger in a foreign country…
For he was looking forward to the city with foundations,
whose architect and builder is God.
Hebrews 11:8-10 NIV
