“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:12-13 NKJV
Beyond the realm that we can see
Are powers and principalities
That move the hands and hearts of men,
Beyond what we might comprehend.
Yet, those same powers, ironically,
Themselves are bound by this small thing –
The fervent prayer of righteous ones
Who claim the Name of God’s own Son.
We see it happen in God’s Word,
Where prayers of godly men are heard;
And Heavenly angels then respond
To thwart the power of Satan’s throng.
And God still works that very way,
As Christians, clad in armor, pray.
Oh, that our blinded eyes would see
What God can do through you and me.
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:16b NKJV
