Wouldst thou let the Father break thee;
like a wild horse that’s full
of fire and fury;
Whose spirit is not diminished
by the working of the Master;
but when finished
Is still a creature full of strength and beauty;
who now can be a useful soul
fulfilling Heaven’s duty?
For if thou wouldst be broken, thou wouldst see
that broken be not ruined, but instead,
fit for eternity.
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart, O God,
thou wilt not despise.”
Psalm 51:17 KJV
