Faith Enough to Wait

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

“…we see a different and oftentimes harder dimension of faith:
when faith requires us to do nothing at all,
while our human nature screams to interfere.
In these cases we believe; therefore, we do not act.
Wisdom is knowing the difference between the two.”
* Beth Moore

Sometimes faith requires us
To act when Jesus calls.
But other times our faith is proved
When we don’t act at all.

And oftentimes that be-still-faith
Is hardest to push through
As we, in our humanity,
Seek something we can DO

To help God out, to aid His plan,
To push things right along
When He knows it is waiting that
This time will make us strong.

So how are we to know whether,
In faith, to act or wait?
The secret’s knowing Jesus’ voice,
From time at Heaven’s gate.

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time…
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come
and will not delay.”
Habakkuk 2:3 KJV
