Sweet Serenity

Written by Lisa DeVinney on . Posted in poetry

If I should take the morning’s wing
And fly, oh God, to Thee,
I know that Thou wouldst see my flight,
And there wouldst welcome me
Before Thy wondrous, righteous throne,
Where angels gather round;
And from which Thine own gentle hands,
With grace and love, reach down
To draw me to Thy precious side;
To there commune with Thee.
And there I find the blessed joy
Of sweet serenity.
“If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me,
and thy right hand shall hold me.”
Psalm 139:9-10
